About Dr. Dawn Bloom

Dr. Dawn Bloom grew up in sunny southern California and attended the University of San Diego. She completed a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology (Alliant University) in 1993 and then moved to the Greater Kansas City area where she happily lives with her husband and three children. Dr. Bloom completed postdoctoral internship requirements through the University of Kansas Medical Center- Smith Center for Mental Retardation and has specialized in testing and assessment since that time. She has participated in multiple research projects involving individuals with ADHD, learning disabilities, and autism spectrum disorders.

Dr. Bloom has over two decades of consulting experience in the area of behavioral health and geriatric populations; as well as behavioral health challenges found in individuals with chronic mental illness. She has served as a behavioral health consultant for Tutera Senior Living. Dr. Bloom is the author of “A Healthcare Professional’s Guide to Assessing Cognition in the Geriatric Population”. She has provided numerous continuing education classes through the Johnson County Community College. Dr. Bloom provides consultation and psychological evaluations for several Missouri school districts in the Greater Kansas City area. She is a licensed psychological service provider in both Kansas and Missouri.

Dr. Bloom has been an active advisory board member for the following agencies: Solace House (President)- A Center for Grieving Children and Their Families (Leawood, Kansas); Research Psychiatric Center Board of Trustees (President; Kansas City, Missouri); and Johnson County Mental Health Advisory Board (Johnson County, Kansas).

Current professional interests include the study of improved diagnostic measures of dementia disorders.
