What to Expect from a Learning Disorder Evaluation

We know the idea of testing can feel overwhelming—for both students and parents. Our process is designed to be supportive, thorough, and informative every step of the way.

Here’s what the process typically looks like:

  1. Initial Consultation
We start with a parent interview to understand your child’s history, current concerns, and educational background. This helps us tailor the evaluation to your child’s unique needs.

  2. Testing Sessions
Your child will complete a series of one-on-one standardized tests that assess:

    • Cognitive abilities (e.g., memory, attention, processing speed)

    • Academic skills (reading, math, writing)

    • Executive functioning and other learning-related skills

Most evaluations are completed in 1–2 sessions, depending on your child’s age and stamina.

  3. Feedback Meeting
We schedule a feedback session two weeks after in person testing is complete to review the results in detail. You’ll receive a comprehensive report that includes:

    • Diagnoses (if applicable)

    • Your child’s learning profile

    • Clear, personalized recommendations for home and school

    • Guidance for IEP/504 planning or standardized test accommodations

  4. Ongoing Support
We’re available for follow-up questions and collaboration with your child’s school or other providers as needed. Our goal is to ensure you feel confident and supported moving forward.
