Does My Child Have a Learning Disability?
Some students work incredibly hard yet continue to struggle with reading, writing, or math—despite extra help, tutoring, and support at school. When a child isn’t making expected progress, parents and teachers may wonder whether something deeper is going on.
An educational evaluation can help determine whether your child has a learning disability or processing difficulty that’s interfering with their academic progress. Common learning disorders or challenges to learning include:
Dyslexia – challenges with reading accuracy, fluency, or comprehension
Dyscalculia – difficulty understanding math concepts or performing calculations
Dysgraphia – trouble with handwriting, spelling, or organizing written work
Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) - difficulty focusing, impulsivity, daydreaming
These challenges are not a reflection of effort or intelligence. Identifying the root of the problem can provide clarity and open the door to appropriate supports—both at school and at home.
Our comprehensive evaluations are designed to uncover each child’s unique learning profile. We provide detailed, individualized recommendations to guide interventions, support IEP or 504 planning, and help students reach their full potential.
If a student is seeking accommodations for high-stakes exams such as the ACT, SAT, or college entrance testing, a current Learning Disorder Evaluation with standardized testing is often required to qualify for those supports.
